A World Of Fun At Your Fingertips

You might think that you’d have to be a technology expert to get the most of your smartphone or tablet, but these devices are now being designed with everyone in mind. Whether you just want to shop, watch movies or even play bingo online, all of these things are really easy to do on your tablet or smartphone, especially when you have the right apps. So whether it’s for the youngest or oldest members of your family, here are some apps your whole family can enjoy.

ipad

I'm not ashamed to say that little J knows how to use the iPad probably better than I do. He loves playing games on there or watching You Tube Kids. At first it used to worry me but I soon realised that this is the world we live in and most kids have some sort of tablet or device. Whether its a kids version or if they use their parents, most little ones know there way around the devices.

I will watch little J when he's playing on the iPad and 99% of the things he does is all educational. Whether it's letter games or number songs he is constantly learning. We have downloaded a few apps for fun such as Disney Cars but again there is some sort of educational feature so it doesn't feel as bad.

As well as children’s games, there are hundreds of apps to keep older minds entertained in those moments of peace and quiet that parents experience so rarely. Once you’ve put the little ones to bed, why not a little bit of shopping on Amazon Prime or even try bingo online tonight.

park

Although playing games or shopping online is fun, it’s important to get out and enjoy the sunshine with our little ones as well. Apps like Days Out With Kids can help you find fun places to go to let your child run around in and burn off some of that energy they’re filled with. If it’s raining then don’t worry, the app can also find you museums and indoor play areas to keep your little ones entertained. All of the locations have been recommended by other parents, so you can read reviews you can trust before you leave.

As well as children and parents, apps can really be useful for grandparents as well. If your child’s grandparents live far away, then you can download Skype next time they want to chat. The app lets you make free video calls to anywhere in the world and lets your little ones see their grandparents even when they can’t see them in real life.

Do you find yourself using your phone or tablet for fun? What apps do you like?

  2. Blake loves trying to get hold of my tablet I'm definitely going to download some educational apps for when he is a little older. I also think it's great for them to have a bit of fun and sitting still for a little while.

  9. We use our phones and tablets a lot... Probably too much. O likes to use the iPad to watch Netflix and play educational games. I use quiz games on my phone, as well as for social media and occasionally Netflix.

  10. I believe it is all about having a balance between technology and spending time outdoors. As long as children don't stay glued to their smartphones all day long, I have no problem with it!

  11. Yes, agree versatility is a benefit of iPad. I find it easier to use than laptop, as it is lighter etc. I now have a holder to rest it on, got that from IKEA. The holder is useful for iPad, books, magazine, patterns etc. It was a friend who suggested the holder. We can all benefit from sharing ideas etc.

  16. A nice little article, Michelle. Thank you. Children do seem to pick up technology intuitively, or perhaps it is because they are not afraid to explore? Mentioning grandparents is important, too, because although they usually need initial guidance, once they're up and running, you can't stop them!

  17. Jenny and Eve know how to use their tablets like pros. It's amazing how well they pick it up! We also rely on Skype because my relatives all live quite far away. How technology helps us!
